Properly insulating your home is one of the most important things that homeowners can do to improve the overall energy efficiency of their homes. The United States Department of Energy estimates that the energy that homeowners use for artificially heating and cooling their homes accounts for almost half of total energy use in the US. Investing in more efficient heating and cooling technologies such as a heat pump or high-efficiency HVAC equipment is one way to save on your heating and cooling bills. However, an unsealed building envelope or insufficient insulation in your walls, roof, or foundation will increase your energy use, regardless of your type of heating and cooling.

FIBERGLASS INSULATION

Fiberglass insulation is made out of tiny fibers of glass that trap hot air. Fiberglass insulation can be either blown-in / loose-fill or a blanket system, great for all different types of areas, from the attic to the exterior walls to crawl spaces.

BLOWN IN INSULATION

“Blown-in” refers to a method of installation—blown-in insulation is installed with a special blowing device. Fiberglass is available in blown-in form, and cellulose is as well. Blown-in cellulose is also called loose-fill cellulose.

CELLULOSE INSULATION

In our experience, cellulose insulation is one of the most environmentally friendly types of insulation on the market. Cellulose is made of up to 85% recycled material. We think that cellulose, like fiberglass, works well in many types of areas and is ideal for soundproofing

RIGID BOARD INSULATION

Rigid board insulation is made from rugged, dense sheets of certain types of foam. The most used foam products for rigid board insulation include polyurethane, polystyrene, or polyiso. Due to the chemical structure, these types of foams are considered to be "closed-cell." In contrast, the majority of insulation products are open cells.

ADVANCED AIR SEALING

Air leakage occurs when outside air enters and conditioned air leaves your house uncontrollably through cracks and openings. Reducing the amount of air that leaks in and out of your home is a cost-effective way to cut heating and cooling costs, improve durability, increase comfort, and create a healthier indoor environment.

BATT INSULATION

Typically made of fiberglass, batt insulation is available in pre-cut panels. It can be used to insulate any area of your home—walls, ceilings, crawl spaces, etc.—and is actually one of the most commonly used forms of insulation.
